Tournament Rules

As well as can be enforced, the tournament rules will follow the most recent  "Rules of Golf" according to the USGA.  Each flight will be assigned a captain who will be responsible for upholding the rules to the best of their ability.

Handicaping

Handicap Index

Every player in the tournament MUST have an established handicap established with the USGA Golf Handicap Index Network (GHIN) before the tournament begins to be eligible for cash prizes.  If you have a GHIN and a handicap index, and have comfirmed that you will be participating in the event, please check the participants list to ensure that we have the right information for you. If not, please CLICK HERE to submit your information. Players with an established GHIN will have their handicap index updated the day before the tournament.

Course Handicaps

A Course handicap will be developed for each participant using the USGA course handicap formula for an 18 hole round. The calculation will as follows:

Course Handicap = [HI] x [SR / 113] + [CR - Par]

Where:

  • HI = Handicap Index
  • SR = Course Slope Rating
  • 113 = The average rating for most courses
  • CR = Course Rating
  • Par = Course Par

Course handicaps will be rounded to the nearest whole number then adjusted based on the lowest course handicap in the group. for example if the best player's course handicap is 4 and your handicap is 16, then the adjusted course handicap for your round is 12. Similarly if the best player has a course handicap of 4, his adjusted course handicap is 0.

Pops

Pops are strokes that a player can take off their total score for a hole. Pops are assigned based on a players adjusted course handicap to be applied to the hardest rated holes in order for the course. For example if a player has an adjusted course handicap of 12, then they will get an extra stroke for the first 12 hardest ranked holes for the course.

Scoring System

Stroke Play

Format Overview:
Players record every stroke, and net scores are calculated by subtracting their handicap from their total. Lowest net score wins.

Why We Chose It:
It’s straightforward, competitive, and rewards consistent play. Perfect for golfers who want every shot to count.

Max Strokes

  • To speed up game play, a maximum number of storkes will be set for all players.
  • The maximum number of strokes that a player can have is a DOUBLE PAR.
  • Players will be responsible for keeping track of their strokes and picking up their ball once the max strokes have been met.
  • All players will be responsible for keeping their own score and reporting the score to the group captain.
  • The group captain will be responsible for entering scores into the app and marking the official game card.

Lost Balls:

  • Lost balls happen. No big deal.
  • To speed up game play, there will be a two (3) minute max time limit to search for lost balls.
  • After two (3) minutes, please take your drop in an appropriate spot according to the rules
  • Drops are all considered latteral drops and shall be scored as follows: one (1) stroke for the shot into the woods and one (1) stroke for the drop. Therefore, If you hit a wayward drive and can't find your ball and need to drop, you are hitting your third (3rd) shot.
  • OB will also be counted as a lateral drop.
  • All drops are to be placed laterally at the location the ball went out.
  • If there is not an inbounds area to drop, the ball will be dropped at the nearest location inbounds that is the furthest from the hole.

Time Targets:

  • 2 hours to the turn
  • 4.5 hours for 18 holes
  • Boxed lunches availible starting at 12:00 at the club house
  • Round 2 starts at 1:00 (hard start)
  • Dinner starts at 6 pm
  • Awards start at 7 pm
  • Must leave the course by 8:30 pm

Max Pops:

  • None

Prize Structure

This year everyone should have a shot at the money—no matter their handicap. That’s why our payout system is structured to reward both Net scoring (based on handicap) and Gross scoring (pure strokes), with a balance that keeps it fair and fun.

Prize Pool Breakdown:

The total prize pool (excluding skins) is first split into:

  • 60% Net Pool
  • 40% Gross Pool

From there, we carve out:

  • 10% of the total prize pool for the Overall Winners:
    • 60% of that to the Overall Net Winner
    • 40% of that to the Overall Gross Winner

The remaining 90% of the total prize pool is divided among the three flights based on number of players in each.

Flight Categories:

Players are divided into three flights based on handicap index:

  • Legends Flight: Handicap 14.0 and below
  • Challengers Flight: Handicap 15.0 to 17.9
  • Bandits Flight: Handicap 18.0 and above

Each flight receives a proportional share of the prize pool and splits it 60% for Net payouts and 40% for Gross.
